About

About Revision Rhinoplasty

Treated areas:Nose

Revision rhinoplasty is corrective nose surgery done to fix or improve the result of a previous nose operation. It corrects shape problems, fixes unevenness, or improves breathing issues left from the first surgery.
Because the nose already has scar tissue and changed structure, this surgery is much more complex than the first one, it needs a specialist with high-level skill and experience.
✅ Best done 12–18 months after your first surgery, once all healing and swelling have fully settled.

How It Works

  • Weak or collapsed parts are rebuilt with grafts
  • Shape is refined to match your face naturally
  • Every plan is made exactly for your nose and what you need

What It Can Fix & Rebuild

🔹 Shape Refinement

  • Straighten the bridge and smooth uneven lines
  • Reshape the tip to look soft, balanced, and natural
  • Fix uneven nostrils or base

🔹 Breathing Improvement

  • Open up narrow or weak airway areas
  • Repair and straighten the inner wall
  • Strengthen structures so they don’t collapse when breathing

🔹 Structural Rebuilding

  • Cartilage grafts are often used to rebuild support:
    • From your septum (if enough remains)
    • From your ear (for fine shaping)
    • From your rib (for strong, major rebuilding)
  • Old scar tissue is carefully released to let the nose move and shape properly

Ideal Candidate

Ideal for clients:

  • Nose looks crooked, uneven, or lopsided
  • Bump or unevenness still visible on the bridge
  • Tip looks pinched, too narrow, too upturned, or too bulky
  • Bridge looks sunken or collapsed (saddle nose)
  • Shape looks unnatural or “over‑done”
  • Hard to breathe through one or both sides
  • Nose feels blocked or collapses when you breathe in
  • Damage or holes in the inner wall (septum)
  • Scar tissue or weak structures blocking airflow

Proven Results

  • Natural, balanced shape that fits your face
  • Straight, smooth bridge and well‑shaped tip
  • Clear, easy breathing
  • Strong, stable structure that lasts
  • Confidence in both how your nose looks and works

Procedure

How It Is Performed

Detailed pre-operative 3-D CT scan and clinical analysis; review of previous surgical reports

  1. General anaesthesia
  2. Open columellar approach; meticulous skin envelope dissection to preserve vascular supply
  3. Complete removal of failed implant, capsular contracture tissue, and scar bands
  4. Costal cartilage harvest (6th–7th rib)
  5. Precision carving: dorsal onlay, septal extension graft, tip graft, lateral-crural strut
  6. Structural reconstruction maintaining skin envelope tension
  7. Alar-base correction; internal Doyle splints + external thermoplastic cast

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

How long must I wait after my primary rhinoplasty before revision?

At least 12 months, to allow complete healing and scar maturation. Urgent revision (for active infection or implant exposure causing skin compromise) is an exception and may be performed sooner on medical grounds.

Why is revision more expensive than primary rhinoplasty?

Revision involves longer operative time (scar tissue dissection, rib cartilage harvest and carving), greater technical complexity, higher complication risk management, and a more intensive follow-up schedule extending to 24 months.

Can a contracted "Avatar" nose be fixed?

Yes. By removing the contracted implant and rebuilding with costal cartilage and a septal extension graft, surgeons can restore projection and natural contour. Severe contracture cases may require two staged procedures.
