About

About Eyebag Removal

Treated areas:Eyelid

Also called Lower Blepharoplasty, this surgery removes or shifts excess fat and tightens loose skin under your eyes. It gets rid of puffy bags, smooths the area, and makes you look rested, fresh, and younger.

What It Does For You

No more puffy bags

Extra fat is removed or moved, so:

  • Under-eye bulges disappear
  • The heavy, swollen look is gone
  • Lower lids look flat and smooth

Smooth, natural contour

We often reposition fat instead of just taking it out. This:

  • Fills hollows under the eyes
  • Blends the eyelid smoothly into the cheek
  • Prevents a sunken or “hollowed” look

Tighter, firmer skin

If you have loose or crepey skin:
  • Excess skin is gently trimmed
  • Fine lines and wrinkles improve
  • Lower lids feel tighter and smoother

Brighter, less tired look

Removes the shadows and dark areas caused by bulging fat, so you look awake, fresh, and well-rested.
📌 Note: If your dark circles are from skin colour or pigment, this surgery won’t remove them fully, we can combine it with laser or other treatments to help.

Often Combined With

👁 Upper Blepharoplasty

Fixes hooded skin on the upper lid for complete eye rejuvenation.

👁 Canthoplasty

Lifts and supports the outer corner, prevents sagging and creates an almond-eye shape.

👁 Fat Grafting

Adds soft volume to hollows or cheeks for an even smoother, youthful contour.

Ideal Candidate

  • Lower eyelid bag removal is most effective for adults aged 25–65 whose persistent under-eye puffiness persists regardless of sleep, hydration, or topical creams.
  • Ideal candidates have good overall health, realistic expectations, and no significant dry-eye condition.
  • Younger patients (under 40) with good skin tone typically achieve excellent results with the scarless transconjunctival approach, while patients over 40 benefit from the combined skin-resection technique.

Proven Results

  • Lower eyelid bag removal delivers a long-lasting refreshed appearance, smoothing the lid–cheek junction and eliminating the shadow created by herniated fat.
  • Results typically remain stable for 5–10 years.
  • The transconjunctival approach avoids any surface scar and preserves the natural undereye contour for the most natural outcome.

How It Is Performed

Trans-Conjunctival (Scarless) Approach

  1. Topical and local anaesthetic drops instilled; conjunctival infiltration
  2. Small (5–8 mm) incision on the inner surface of the lower eyelid
  3. Orbital fat carefully redistributed or conservatively excised — no skin removal
  4. No skin sutures; ointment and eye pad applied

Trans-Cutaneous (Sub-Ciliary) Approach

  1. Local infiltration anaesthesia with epinephrine
  2. Incision along lower lash line (sub-ciliary crease)
  3. Skin-muscle flap elevated; fat repositioned / partially excised
  4. Canthal anchor suture to support lower lid
  5. Minimal skin excision; 7-0 nylon skin closure
  6. Cold pack and ointment applied

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Will the eyebags come back?

Once orbital fat is redistributed or removed, recurrence is uncommon. Ageing may eventually cause some laxity of the lower lid skin, but the treated fat pads do not regenerate.

Can I combine eyebag removal with double eyelid surgery?

Absolutely. Lower eyelid bag refinement is a standard component of the "comprehensive eye" package offered by virtually all major Chinese aesthetic hospitals, delivering a complete upper-and-lower lid transformation in one surgical event.

How soon can I wear eye make-up again?

Typically 14 days post-surgery. Using make-up before suture removal and full healing risks irritation and infection.
