Get My Itemized QuotationWhy the gap is this large
Operating costs, staffing, and insurance overheads are far lower for a Korean hospital or clinic than for a U.S. practice, and Seoul’s Gangnam district holds one of the densest concentrations of facial plastic surgeons anywhere in the world, which keeps pricing competitive. The exchange rate does the rest. The lower price reflects a different cost base, not a lower standard of care. Your surgeon is board certified and your hospital or clinic is registered with the Korean government, and we give you the credentials so you can verify both yourself.
*USD equivalents are approximate and vary with exchange rates. All quotes are issued in Korean won. Final pricing depends on your individual assessment and the extent of surgery.
What is an SMAS facelift?
The SMAS (superficial musculoaponeurotic system) is the layer of muscle and connective tissue under your skin. Instead of pulling skin tight, an SMAS facelift lifts and secures this deeper structural layer. That single difference is what separates a natural result from a stretched one.
- You look rested, not pulled. Lifting the foundation rather than stretching the surface is what avoids the windblown look people fear.
- Structural, not superficial. Because the supporting layer is repositioned, surgeons treat it as a correction rather than a temporary tightening.
- It addresses the actual complaint. Jowls, a softening jawline and loose skin along the neck are treated at their source instead of being masked.
- A long-established technique. SMAS methods have been a backbone of facelift surgery for decades. This is not an experimental procedure.

Two ways to lift the SMAS layer. We arrange both.
The same layer can be heated so it tightens, or it can be surgically repositioned. These are very different procedures with very different results. What follows is what each is commonly used for, not a recommendation for you. Only a surgeon who has examined your face can tell you which one fits.
Ultrasound and thread lifting
Focused ultrasound (HIFU, including Ultherapy) heats the SMAS layer so it contracts and rebuilds collagen. Cog threads are passed beneath the skin and anchored to lift that layer physically. Most plans combine the two, often with radiofrequency for the skin itself.
- Commonly used for
- Early sagging, skin firmness
- Downtime
- Little to none
- Sessions
- Repeated over time
- Price
- From ₩4,000,000
SMAS facelift
The surgeon lifts and secures the SMAS layer itself, repositions the tissue, and removes the excess skin. This is a structural correction, not a tightening.
- Commonly used for
- Jowls, jawline, neck
- Downtime
- One week in Seoul
- Sessions
- One procedure
- Price
- From ₩15,000,000
The American Society of Plastic Surgeons puts the difference plainly: non-surgical lifting gives moderate, less dramatic results, needs repeating, and eventually stops being enough. Neither option is the right answer for everyone, which is why we will not sell you one before a surgeon has looked at your face.
Whichever route you take, a doctor performs it. The surgeons we work with trained at Korea’s leading medical schools, including Seoul National University, and your plan is built around your face at consultation rather than sold off a menu. A cheap session that has to be repeated, or corrected afterwards, is rarely the saving it looks like.
What we require before we send anyone to a hospital or clinic
These are the conditions every hospital and clinic must meet before we refer a facelift patient there. If a facility will not meet them, we do not work with it for this procedure.
- The surgeon you meet is the surgeon who operatesYou get the operating surgeon’s name, license number, and case history in writing before you decide. You can verify the license yourself. No shadow doctors.
- A dedicated anesthesia doctor, start to finishA specialist doctor stays with you for the whole operation, watching your anesthesia and your vital signs and doing nothing else. This is the one condition we will not waive.
- Everything in writing, before you payAn itemized quote in English covering surgery, anesthesia, facility, and aftercare, along with the revision policy of the hospital or clinic. No new numbers at the door.
