About Gastrointestinal (GI)

Treated areas:Colon, Gastrointestinal Tract, Liver, Stomach

GI stands for the gastrointestinal tract, also called your digestive system. It’s the group of organs that process food, take in nutrients your body needs, and remove waste.
This system starts at your mouth, and goes through the esophagus, stomach, small intestine, large intestine (colon), rectum, and anus. It also includes supporting organs: the liver, pancreas, and gallbladder, which help break down food and aid digestion.

Main Parts of the GI Tract

  • Mouth: Digestion begins here, food is chewed and mixed with saliva.
  • Esophagus: A soft tube that carries food from your mouth down to your stomach.
  • Stomach: Breaks food down using natural acids and special enzymes.
  • Small Intestine: Where most nutrients are absorbed into your body.
  • Large Intestine (Colon): Takes water out of food waste and forms stool.
  • Rectum & Anus: Stores waste and passes it out of the body.
